Something was different, though, there was a feeling in the air. There was nothing to put our finger on, rather little things: Questions about how to record a BTC [bitcoin] transaction or the legality [and compliance] requirements of an ICO [Initial Coin Offering] on a DEX [Decentralized Exchange].
What are all these things?
Whatever the specific reason, a number of us began to look into the concepts behind Bitcoin and decentralization. It started with the Satoshi Nakamoto whitepaper - Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System and quickly moved to pulling on every thread we could find. The concepts of decentralization and promise of disintermediation were thought provoking.
On that note - here is a great video for those looking to understand the core philosophies driving this technological disruption. This 30-minute video communicates a lot of foundational info:
It is by Andreas Antonopoulos and is titled: Introduction to Bitcoin: What is it and why does it matter?
If you looked, you also see that this presentation by Andreas was in 2016. Much of what is spoken about is now occurring. Very forward thinking on his part.
The takeaway from this was that Satoshi Nakamoto, via the deployment of Bitcoin, had solved the 'Double Spend Problem' which had eluded all to that point. What this meant was that you could now transact, trustlessly, with unknown individuals, anywhere in the world, at any time of the day, with value and without permission.
Hmmmm..... what does this mean? Really, this led to many more questions.
What will this look like? What is decentralization? What will this disintermediation lead to?
These are the questions we began answering, then applying to the legacy system within the context of billions of users operating under a new commerce paradigm. dCommunity is just one result - and the one that allows for all, who are interested, to join the New Economy without having to spend all the time learning what we have.
